The Cakery

The Cakery is a division of The Jefferson Market and Cakery, an old fashioned market that offers delectable pastries, sandwiches, coffees and some groceries.

This woman-owned company is the dream child of Mary Rasmussen, a former Interior Designer who loves the creative process, color, and design. Mary's unique style comes through in all the cakes, and her love of art and people makes for a very enthusiastic pastry artist!

Mary has been a baker since age 8 and has been formally trained with a variety of baking and pastry classes, cake decoration classes and wedding cake design seminars and workshops from many venues. Her emphasis is on great tasting cakes and pastries that are moist and delicious. She will work at a recipe long and hard until it is perfected. "We bake cakes the way cakes ought to be baked," is one of her guiding philosophies.
